Urgent 40 MPH Speed Restriction (Southbound Carriageway on A229 Blue Bell Hill, Aylesford and Chatham Road) and Off Slip Closure between A229 Chatham Road and Cobtree Roundabout - 16th March 2026 for three nights.It will be necessary to implement a 40 MPH speed restriction on the Southbound Carriageway A229 Blue Bell Hill, Aylesford and Chatham Road and an off slip closure between A229 Chatham Road and Cobtree Roundabout on 16th March 2026 for up to 3 nights.
The 40 MPH speed restriction will be from the Lord Lees Roundabout on slip (South Bound) to the Cobtree Roundabout off slip.
Vehicles exiting Tyland Barn intending to join the Cobtree Roundabout will be unaffected.
The alternative route is via A229 Chatham Road (southbound), A229 Royal Engineers Road (southbound), change direction at Barracks Roundabout, A229 Royal Engineers Road (northbound), A229 Royal Engineers Road (off slip to Running Horse Roundabout) A229 Running Horse Roundabout, A229 Chatham Road (on slip to Cobtree Roundabout), A229 Cobtree Roundabout.
It is planned the works be carried out between 21:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs each night.
This is to enable carriageway screed repair works to be carried out by Kent County Council.

The alternative route is via A229 Blue Bell Hill (northbound), A229 Blue Bell Hill Slip North Off, A229 Lord Lees Roundabout, A229 Blue Bell Hill Slip South On, A229 Blue Bell Hill (southbound), Kits Coty Slip Southbound Off, Rochester Road.

Due to works planned to be undertaken by Openreach, it will be necessary to close part of Pratling Street, Aylesford, from 25th March 2026 with estimated completion by 25th March 2026.
Pratling Street, Aylesford, will be closed from the junction with Rochester Road, for a distance approximately 1440 metres in a South direction, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pratling Street, Rochester Road, Pratling Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow pole testing works to be carried out, works are undertaken by Openreach.
